PRESIDENT MURMU: RAM MANDIR CAN SHAPE COURSE OF COMING CENTURIES

On Wednesday, President Draupadi Murmu received a warm reception in parliament as she talked about significant events like the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which fulfilled a long-held wish of the country. She also mentioned the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, a law against triple talaq, and the Citizen Amendment Act [CAA]. These actions are seen as important steps that could impact India’s future. She also highlighted the historical significance of the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, stating that it was a momentous occasion that waited for centuries. She emphasized that such events have the power to shape the future trajectory of civilization for centuries to come, drawing parallels with other defining moments in India’s history. Referring to January 22nd as a crucial date, she underscored how realizing the Ram Temple was not just a matter of infrastructure but a deeply rooted aspiration and faith for millions of Indians. She commended the peaceful resolution of this longstanding issue, reflecting on the harmony and unity it fostered among the people.

The first joint session held in the new parliament building was marked by President Draupadi Murmu’s impactful address, which resonated with the spirit of national pride and achievement. Murmu’s references to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya were met with resounding applause, indicative of the significance attached to this historic milestone. The Lok Sabha Hall echoed with the thunderous thumping of desks, underscoring the enthusiasm of the members present. Even unexpected moments, such as Congress leader Sonia Gandhi joining in the applause, reflected the bipartisan acknowledgment of this monumental event. During her 75-minute speech, Murmu articulated the government's vision, which encompassed a series of significant reforms undertaken in the past decade. The construction of the Ram Temple stood out as a prominent achievement, symbolizing the fulfillment of a longstanding aspiration. Murmu's invocation of this achievement at the outset set the tone for her address, highlighting its importance in the national consciousness.

In addition to the Ram Temple, Murmu also spotlighted the BJP government's fulfillment of key electoral promises over the last five years. She specifically mentioned the successful removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, which dispelled doubts and reshaped the region's governance landscape. Murmu also highlighted the enactment of stringent laws against 'triple talaq' and the provision of citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries through the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Murmu articulated the government's commitment to building a prosperous India on the foundation of four pillars: youth, women, farmers, and the poor. She emphasized the tireless efforts of the government to empower these segments of society, allocating significant portions of tax revenues toward their welfare. This vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) underscored the government's dedication to inclusive growth and socio-economic development.

Overall, Murmu's address encapsulated the spirit of progress, inclusivity, and national pride, positioning the government's achievements as milestones that would shape India's future trajectory. President Draupadi Murmu praised the Indian armed forces for effectively responding to terrorism and expansionism, likely referring to Pakistan and China. She emphasized India's growing global role in combating terrorism.

During her first speech in the new Parliament building, the President also highlighted the economic reforms implemented by the government. These reforms have propelled India from being part of the "fragile five" economies to becoming one of the top five economies globally.
